Delectable Delicious almost Devoured in One Night Devilishly Good Martha Cookies
I bought Martha Stewart's Cookies. What a silly silly thing for an already pudgy 20-year-old baker to do. I made her scrumptious, delectable Chocolate Charms and I've been nibbling since they came out of the oven. These are quite good and I am so happy I sprang for the expensive B&N price so that I can make cookies while I am alone in my dorm for Spring Break. Except that I am alone, which means that no one is watching me so that I don't eat every single one of these nummy little cookies. I can only surmise from this fantastic result that a good majority of the other 174 cookie recipes will be fantastic. I think my next personal cookie will be blondies. I really love blondies and have only discovered them since being in college. My mom has stuck with the same brownie recipe since I was knee high to a grasshopper (gah-hyuck) and doesn't care for trying new recipes for old favorites. Point: I have only had brownies in my youth and a vast majority of them have been Hershey's Best brownies (which are really tasty but I have decided that I am going to attempt to find a truly perfect brownie recipe or find a good variety so that I can match the perfect brownie for the brownie-craving-of-the-moment. I love this new recipe a week bit. It seems really easy right now. That could prove to be the foreboding in this task. I think I should come up with some sort of design for a recipe task with a goal and a deadline. I know the whole cook along in a year concept has been done but there are several cookbooks that I am very very interested in purchasing and, if I am at all like my mother, I am going to need some really good motivation to cook from the books or they will become decorations in my book/pottery/craft supply cluttered home. Herbs!
I made Julia's potato cheese sticks last night with S. They were divine! He kept pestering me about adding green onions to them. That probably will not happen. I may add some of my new chives when they grow up, big and strong! I bought some basil, chives and parsley and some great little bird pots at Lowe's. Very very cute. I am a bit of a bird nut so. . . I asked Mr.S. if he which recipe he wanted to try next and his only sentiment was MEAT (I only eat fish/sea food)!!! I talked him into crepes a la Florentine. Very excited. I've never even attempted a real crepe. I also just signed up for Netflix so I should have a good deal of French films to cook by! I'm still open to suggestion for my next recipe if anyone is out there.

Trying Something new Every Single Week.
I have a confession. I am obsessed with Julia Child. I am reading My Life in France by Mrs. Child and her Nephew Alex Prud'Homme and find Mrs. Child positively charming and her descriptions of France and her people is absolutely enchanting. There aren't many people I really describe as charming and especially not enchanting. This isn't because I don't find people endearing but there is a certain fluent quality that a couple of handfuls of people naturally exude. As a true blue Appalachian lady I have a habit of saying things like "Bless her heart," and calling people "Darling, honey, and sugar." I sound like a syrupy Southern Belle (snort, riiiight). Any who, Mrs. Child is absolutely endearing and I adore her. I also have just finished reading Julia and Julia by Julie Powell. Mrs. Powell is abrasive and often while reading I think to myself simultaneously "I could NEVER be friends with this crazy bird," and "I can't wait to hear how she tackles the next recipe from Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I wasn't continuously affronted by the way Julie Powell acted (I wouldn't have finished the darn book if this were to be the case). I was impressed and a little awed by her daunting feat but I was so jealous because she was living in a world of attempts at that wonderfully fullilling emotion that tends to cause something akin to euphoria when one has created a beautiful dish and the dish and effort can be shared. I decided that I will attempt to try at least on recipe a week from MtAoFC and other gifted books and magazines. I am so excited. If anyone out there is reading this and gives a hoot, leave a little comment to suggest a recipe. K, Bai!

Bakeholic
I love baking. I am going to turn into one of those aunties who bake three tons of caloric overload to any relative I can still remember. I have been watching Grey's Anatomy and harvesting new recipes because I am the type of person who overly obsessive. I have watched three seasons of the darn show. I have created a filing system for my cooking magazines. I am the only twenty-year-old that I know who asked for and got a Kitchenaid Artisan stand mixer in Pistachio. I love my strange, nerdy life. Well, I am off to read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and cement my status as an uber nerd. Tah!
